Meredith "Dish" Harris ’10 Inducted into Foxcroft 体育名人堂

Confident, Courageous, and Unselfish

周四, 4月21日, Meredith “Dish” Harris ’10 was inducted as the 13th member of Foxcroft’s 体育名人堂 during the 女校友协会 Dinner held during 团聚 Weekend, 和家人在一起, 朋友, 女校友, 教员/员工, and members of the selection committee in attendance.
From an early age, Dish seemed to pick up any new sport she tried with ease. She started riding at the age of six and shortly thereafter started playing lacrosse. She competed in hunter and jumper events and first gained notoriety for her standout skills playing club lacrosse in Upper Corner. While attending Foxcroft she played lacrosse, field hockey, and basketball. She was selected as Field Hockey Player of the Year in the Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC), and during her time at Foxcroft, she helped lead her team to DAC and Columbus Cup Field Hockey Championships, as well as to the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association (VISAA) Tournament for the first time since 2005.

On the lacrosse field, she led her team to a 10-2 record. Selected as co-winner of Foxcroft’s Most Valuable Player award during her senior year, she was also named first-team All-Loudoun by 华盛顿邮报 and All-DAC by the Delaney Conference coaches. She broke several single-season and career scoring records while playing at Foxcroft.

Known for her bright-colored socks and accessories each time she stepped on the field, Dish made a statement with her confidence. She represented the ultimate Foxcroft leader — confident, 勇敢的, and ready to showcase her skills. 她是一个99499威尼斯信誉殊的运动员. So talented at such a young age, with the unselfishness to be a servant leader on the field. She could have easily been the top scorer on the team with her skills, but instead empowered others to shine and be their best.

Former Foxcroft Athletic Director, “狡猾的女,” and Dish’s advisor and coach Katie Kantz, who sits on the 体育名人堂 selection committee, 在她的讲话中分享, “Dish demonstrated such intensity but also sportsmanship as a leader and captain. In a time when sportsmanship can get out of hand, we need practices like the 福克斯/猎犬 tradition and leaders like Dish to model the essence of true 朋友 ‘til the end, even in the ultimate heat of healthy competition.” This is why Division I coaches — and Denver in particular — recruited her so heavily. This is the player a coach would want to help build their program as she did at Foxcroft and Denver. Her energy and love for all sports, including riding, were contagious.

Believed to be the second Foxcroft player ever to play Division 1 Lacrosse, Dish co-captained her team at the University of Denver and went to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament multiple times. She also was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)’s Academic Honor Roll list and, 毕业后, was ranked second on the team in points. She even helped elevate their program to a top 10 ranking. We are proud to induct Dish as the newest member of Foxcroft’s 体育名人堂!
